Erik Ioerger Competes in SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, Metamora Herald



EAST PEORIA, IL (08/29/2018)-- Erik Ioerger, of Metamora, IL, along with other students from Illinois Central College, competed in the 54th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky., June 25-29, 2018.
Overall, ICC brought home three national medals.
Local participant Erik Ioerger, of Metamora, IL was awarded 14th place--HVACR.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry dedicated to preparing the American workforce with skilled employees. The partnership provides educational programs, events, and competitions supporting career and technical education (CTE). The goal of the competition is to reward students for excellence and to directly involve industry in student performance in order to keep skills relevant to the workforce needs.
To be eligible to compete at the national level, students must successfully advance through local and state competitions. According to SkillsUSA data, there were approximately 395,000 registered student members nationwide, with less than two percent of those competing at the national level. Fewer than five percent earn a medal designation.
