State Farm presents the U.S. Military All-Stars Red, White and Blue Tour

State Farm presents the U.S. Military All-Stars Red, White and Blue Tour, Metamora Herald

This summer, State Farm is the presenting sponsor for the U.S. Military All-Stars Red, White and Blue (Baseball) Tour. For more than 25 years, the U.S. Military All-Stars have been a modern-day barnstorming team, promoting awareness for the honorable sacrifices of the American Armed Forces. The 28-man team is made up of active-duty servicemen who represent each branch of the United State Military.

During a visit to the Naval Aviation Museum, President George H.W. Bush discussed the positive impact baseball had on morale during WWII.  His comments initiated the development of military baseball in the modern era. For over a quarter of a century, the U.S. Military All-Stars have promoted awareness of all Americans in support of the honorable sacrifices our armed forces make. They are the only team in history to wear camouflage uniforms with historical references representing all branches of the military and first responders.

The All-Stars will be playing two games this week:
Thursday, July 18 vs. a “Guns & Hoses” team made up of local first responders
Sunday, July 21 to play a Prospect League All-Stars team

Pre-game ceremonies such as "Passing the Flag", a "Walk of Honor" and recognition of area Gold Star Families make the game a special and memorable time. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:00pm, and will take place at the Corn Crib in Normal.

Other area games on the tour include:
July 19 in Hannibal, MO
July 20 in Quincy, IL
July 22 in Whiting, IN
July 24 in Lisle, IL
