Germantown Hills, Ill. - Expect changes to come to how you watch the state's best high school athletes compete for state titles on the gridiron and on the hardwood, and it all starts right away this fall.

In a release from the IHSA published on Monday afternoon, it was announced that the Illinois High School Assocation, NFHS Network, and Quincy Media Incorporated will all partner and "create a statewide television and digital network" that will be the home of the broadcasts for Football, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball.

It's a move that really excites IHSA Executive Director, Craig Anderson.

"I don't think it's an overstatement to say it will provide the largest statewide TV audience access to IHSA State Final broadcasts since the games aired nationally in the 1970s."

Anderson goes on to say in the release that Quincy Media played a large part in this becoming a reality.

"Quincy Media was the key to making this happen. We've had similar setups in the past, but this network of Quincy, Weigel (Broadcasting), and Nexstar stations provides a synergy like none we've had."

Fans that wish to continue their enjoyment of IHSA State Series broadcasts over the internet via the NFHS Network will still be able to, as that platform is not going anywhere.

The new deal will take action officially with the annual football Playoff Pairings Show, which will be taking place on Saturday, October 26th. That will be followed by the Girls Basketball State Finals at Redbird Arena in Normal (February 28th-29th and March 6th-7th, 2020). It will all conclude for the year with the Boys Basketball State Finals at Carver Arena in Peoria (March 13th-14th and 20th-21st, 2020).

Mark Koski is the CEO of the NFHS Network. He believes that this brings big and great things to the viewing of IHSA State Series events.

"The NFHS Network's OTT platform for digital viewing combined with the Qunicy Media-powered IHSA TV Network, will create the largest distribution footprint in the history of the IHSA Championships."

This all means that the station of choice for viewers in our area will be WEEK/25 News.
