Metamora, Ill. - Those that made it out to Metamora High School on Thursday afternoon probably found it pretty easy to see the excitement and anticipation on the face of Anne Peters.

The senior from the girls basketball program was just minutes away from officially putting the pen to the paper and signing with the Trolls of Trinity Christian College.

When Trolls head coach Bill DeRuiter arrived on the scene with Anne's jersey, she was thrilled, to say the least.

All that was left was the official signing, so once she had that done, the emotions going through her head weren't exactly a surprise.

"It felt so relieving. Not as much stress on my shoulders. I couldn't be happier."

So what about Trinity Christian? It's an NAIA school in Palos Heights, Illinois, a town just over 40 minutes south of the heart of Chicago.

Peters says that one of the many things that stuck out about Trinity Christian was the faith-based atmosphere. The college's website has a section for campus ministry, on which it uses the saying "at Trinity, your whole life matters".

On top of that, the future Trolls player says that it's just about everything that pulled her in.

"It's a great place that I'm going to grow as a student-athlete and grow my faith there. I just can't wait to get there and start working hard."

Now Peters has gotten to meet with the team on multiple occasions, something that she believes was a great help in the recruiting process.

"The teammates are great. The atmosphere, I just, I couldn't be happier with. I got to do an overnight with them and a practice, and everything fit. It just felt right."

Everyone that has followed Metamora Girls Basketball knows how she plays and what her role is on the team, but what will be her situation when she plays for Coach DeRuiter in the 2019-2020 season? Anne says it's going to be an almost immediate impact.

"He's definitely looking for me to come and make a difference right away. That's going to be a challenge, too. I don't necessarily have a spot right away, I have to work towards that."

Peters says that she's looking forward to "being a gym rat, improving every single day, and being a leader, even coming in as a freshman."

Metamora head coach Brianna Morrow says that Peters could very well make an instant impact at Trinity Christian, as evident by how much of an impact she made right away after transferring to Metamora.

"From day one, she just fit. Personality-wise, she meshed with our kids. It's been a very smooth, easy transition, like she's been here the entire time. She's just a great kid."

The Metamora program has been seeing a lot more attention from the collegiate level as the years have gone one, and Morrow believes Peters has been a key contributor to that being the case.

"She's been a big piece of that. She's a kid that can shoot, and so because of that, she demands so much respect from the other team. They have to put a really good defender on her."

Fans wishing to follow the early-going of Peters' tenure with the Trolls should be quite excited, considering the jump that Morrow discussed that she's made in the last season alone, adding that "she's someone you have to prepare for".

"In the last year, she's getting offensive boards, she's getting putbacks, she's attacking the basket, she's finishing in transition. Defensively, she really stepped up."

It can't go far without mentioning that Peters will be adding a new sport to her repertoire this season, soccer. Peters will play for long-time girls soccer head coach Danny Driscoll this spring.

All in all, Anne Peters has made a tremendous impact on the Metamora program, and one can only imagine what she could do at Trinity Christian.
