Bald Eagle Spotted Over Metamora

Frank Cavataio snapped this pick near Snyder Village

This big, beautiful bird was spotted over Metamora yesterday, December 3, 2018. Bald eagles move south when the waters they hunt begin to freeze over for the winter. Illinois is home to a large population of this sea bird that was once on the endangered species list. Haliaeetus leucocephalus, or white-headed sea bird, build the largest nests in North America that can weigh over a ton.
