Champaign, Ill. - The season may have ended game-wise in heartbreak with a 49-20 defeat to the Hilltoppers from Joliet Catholic Academy, but it didn't come without some accolades.

It had been announced for awhile, but it became as official as it can get on Saturday morning. The members of the 5A All-State Football Team were presented with their plaques as part of a recognition prior to the 5A State Championship Game.

Metamora's senior quarterback Thomas Hall, also a member of the Redbird Basketball team, was a part of that all-state football team.

Hall says that it's definitely "nice" to be named to the all-state team and "to come out here and represent Metamora".

A factor that's mentioned across all sports when it comes to being eliminated in postseason play is that you always want the team that beat you to do well, so you are able to say you lost to one of the best. Hall echoes that.

"It's good to see that they made it all the way. Wouldn't want to lose to somebody that wasn't up to par."

The Hilltoppers pulled off a win in the title game over Lombard Montini, 35-27.

The 6'8" senior received plenty of looks for both the pigskin and the rock, but in the end, Hall decided to go to the Air Force Academy for basketball.
