Metamora, Ill. - Just enough games have been played for rankings to start coming in. Although the Redbirds have not cracked the AP State Poll, they aren't going un-noticed.

On Monday afternoon, the Peoria Journal Star released their girls basketball preview. That comes wth players to watch, things to watch, and the rankings, all of which are separated by large and small schools.

The two 'heavyweights' of the area come in at one and two, to practically nobody's surprise. The only thing up in the air headed into this season would be what team would immediately follow the Richwoods Knights and Morton Potters.

Needless to say, it's the Metamora Redbirds. A (4-1) start to the season is the best start in over a decade. MaxPreps.com goes as far back as the 2006-2007 season. None of those seasons have Metamora going (4-1) through five games.

That range of years adds up to 153 wins, 2 regional championships. Also, three 20-win teams were in those years. Just to put that in perspective, there are only seven 20-win teams in program history. None of those teams started (4-1).

The Lady Redbirds look to continue one of the greatest starts in program history when they visit Bloomington on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
