Lady Redbirds Varsity Golf team - Regionals - October 3rd

The Lady Redbirds Varsity Golf team headed into today's  Regional Golf Contest at a familiar course played several weeks before.  Earlier this school year, the Varsity Girls played here in Bloomington Catholic Central's Invite, which displayed many of the talented teams that would be faced in Regional's.  Head Coach Danner chose this course for multiple reasons; one for its challenging play, two for the competition and thirdly knowing they would be back for Regional's.

Today's pace, temperature and course condition was not much different from last time.  But there was one minor change from then to now, 20 mile an hour wind with random gusts up to 32 mph.  That creates quite the challenge from the same golf course weeks ago with no wind conditions to the same course with wind playing with, against or across you.  The phrase "when its breezy, swing easy" comes to mind here and when you are competing against talented teams like Bloomington Central Catholic, Peoria Notre Dame and Eureka, you have that in the back of your mind, but you also want to place in the top three to advance to Sectionals.

The Lady Redbirds, despite the unseasonably warm 88 degrees for October and the incredible wind howling across the entire golf course, placed third and advance to Sectionals in Pontiac next Monday at the Elks Golf Course (October 8).  The Lady Redbirds were lead by Senior Grace Simpson's 94, Junior Aubrey Youngquist's 95, Sophomore Brooke Drier's 97, Sophomore Hannah Hieden's 98, Senior Haleigh Hassinger's 100 and Senior Kara Hyde's 106.

With their third place showing, the Lady Redbirds advance to Sectionals once again.  Regional play at Prairie Vista Golf Club included Peoria Notre Dame 1st, Bloomington Catholic Central 2nd and your Lady Redbirds 3rd.
