National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day, Metamora Herald

Today, September 25, is National Voter Registration Day! In this modern age, we have many ways to register and vote. Please take the time to register and vote. This election is crucial and we must all do our part and get out there and vote, and take a friend. If you know any non-voters tell them how important EVERY voter is and that their one vote does matter.

Believe it or not, in Illinois we have many advantages when it comes to making voting easier. Absentee ballots: any registered Illinois voter may apply for an absentee ballot and vote by mail. Absentee ballot application deadlines: Received 5 days before Election Day (by mail). Received by the day before Election Day (in person). Voted ballots are due: Received by the close of polls on Election Day.

We also have Grace Period Voting. [3] If a voter who registers to vote or changes
his or her address during this grace period
wishes to vote at the election or primary
occurring during this grace period, he or
she must do so in-person at the same time
that he/she registers. The election
authority may allow grace period voting
by mail only if the election authority has
no ballots prepared and available when
the registration occurs.

So there you have it, regular voting on November 6th, Absentee Voting, and Early/ Grace period voting. It will just take a little time. Like President Kennedy said " Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" Get out and vote, your voice your choice! Your country needs you.
