Metamora Girls Golf Team held a tri-meet at Metamora Fields Golf Club hosting Olympia and El Paso Gridley.

Wednesday, (08-29-2018), Metamora Girls held a tri-meet at Metamora Fields Golf Club hosting Olympia and El Paso Gridley.  The day started off with a heavy rain followed by a light sprinkling creating decent yet challenging play depending upon where you hit your drive and secondary shots were placed.  The Girls defeated Olympia and El Paso Gridley with a high four score of 184 to Olympia's 186 and El Paso Gridley's 202.  The Redbirds were led by Haleigh Hassinger's 44, Grace Simpson's 46, Hannah Heiden and Aubrey Youngquist's 47, Kara Hyde's 48 followed by Brooke Drier's 49.

Junior Varsity played that afternoon against the same teams.  The Redbird JV team was led by Kerri Trout's 49, Maggie Schaffer and Taylor Ellis' 53, Taylor Whitaker's 62 and Kate Guede's 63.

The Lady Redbirds recent victory complements their Tuesday, 08-28-2018, win against Dunlap at Kellogg Golf Course with a 178 to 228 Varsity Score.  The Redbirds Varsity leading scores were Kara Hyde at 43, Grace Simpson 44, Haleigh Hassinger 45, Brook Drier 46 and Aubrey Youngquist at 47.  The Redbirds Junior Varsity girls were in action at Kellogg, posting scores of Taylor Ellis 55, Kerri Troutt 56, Taylor Whitaker 57, Maggie Shaffer 59, Brooklyn McDonald 62, and Kate Guede and Jackie Mahan with 63.

As of the 29th of August the Lady Redbirds share the lead with a 3-0 Mid Illini Conference ranking with Washington.   Morton, Pekin and East Peoria tied with 2-1 record and Limestone, Canton and Dunlap with an 0-3 Conference standing.  

The Lady Redbirds have appeared in two away Invitationals to date with great competition from central Illinois.  Last weekend the Varsity Lady Redbirds competed against 20 other teams at Prairie Vista Golf Course, Bloomington on the 25th of August.  The Redbirds placed 7th with 362 points for the 18 hole competition.  The Redbirds were led by Haleigh Hassinger's 83, Aubrey Youngquist's 92, Brooke Drier's 93, Kara Hyde's 94, Hannah Heiden's 95 and Grace Simpson's 103.  Peoria Notre Dame was there and scored 356 along with Eureka scoring 352.

The Lady Redbirds were victorious in their 18 hole play at Lake Carroll Golf Course, where the Eastland Invite was held on the 19th of August.  The Lady Redbirds won the Invite with a team score of 381.  Leading scores for the Redbirds were Kara Hyde's 92, Aubrey Youngquist's 94, Hannah Heiden's 96, Haleigh Hassinger's 100, Grace Simpson's 109 and Brooke Drier's 121.  One week prior to that, the Lady Redbirds hosted the annual Redbird Classic at Metamora Fields Golf Club and placed in the Top Ten.  The Varsity girls posted scores of Aubrey Youngquist's 80, Kara Hyde's 86, Heleigh Hassinger's 91, and Hannah Heiden's and Brooke Drier's 96.

The Lady Redbirds enter this season with seven on the Varsity roster; two Senior's, three Juniors and two Sophomore's along with seven members on the Junior Varsity and they are led by Coach Chuck Danner and assisted by Tom Ambrosch.
