Congratulations! University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria Announces the Class of 2018 MD Graduates


PEORIA, Ill. [May 17, 2018] – The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) announces the Class of 2018 graduates. Convocation ceremonies were held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Peoria Civic Center. Fifty-seven students received their medical degrees, raising the total number of doctors who have received their medical degrees in Peoria to 2,023 since the medical school was established in 1970.


 Metamora

Charles Richard Heinzmann III

Charles Heinzmann, the son of Chuck and Laure Heinzmann of Metamora, is a 2009 graduate of Metamora Township High School. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Truman State University in 2013. He will specialize in emergency medicine at the University of Illinois – OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center Residency Training Program in Peoria. 

Ryan Douglas Herring

Ryan Herring, the son of Doug and Joyce Herring of Metamora, is a 2009 graduate of Metamora Township High School. He received his undergraduate degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013. A recipient of the Family Medicine/Heritage Enterprises Endowed Award for Excellence and a member of the Rural Student Physician Program, Ryan will specialize in preventative medicine at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. 


 The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) educates more than 230 medical students annually and offers 20 graduate medical training programs with its major hospital affiliate partners.
