Local Entrepreneur Profile Highlights: Ryan The Magician

metamora herald magic business

Ryan Russell is our youngest entrepreneur to date. At only 14 years old he has started his own magic entertainment business. Here is his story.

I was born in North Carolina and we moved into Germantown Hills when I was one. I started magic when I was ten. During that time I only performed for my fourth-grade class talent show. After I got into summer that year I lost interest in it because I was so young. I got back into magic last April when I got to see a magician perform in Branson, Missouri. Ever since I have loved and enjoyed practicing magic.

I actually ended up winning the Germantown Hills Middle School talent show this year and that is what got my name out to other people and started my business. My favorite magician would have to be Mat Franco. He won Americas Got Talent. One of my favorite tricks that he does is the jumping card trick. I liked it so much I learned it myself and now is one of my go-to close up tricks. I haven't gone to school for this but I have been to magic lectures in Springfield and Peoria where they will talk about magic and teach you different skills and tricks.

For birthday parties I charge 70 dollars for a 45-60 minute performance. Any other event (Corporate or special events) would matter on what it is, how many people will be there, where it is, etc.  I do public events as well. I actually have a public magic show on 06/27/18 at the Coventry Farms clubhouse (113 Windsor Dr). It is only $2.00 per person at the door. I will be donating my services along with Jakd Entertainment for a St.Jude fundraiser. It is on August 12 and it is a kickball tournament at the Germantown Hills Middle School.

I wanted to become a magician to make people happy and because I enjoyed it. My favorite thing to see is a smile on someone's face or confusion after I show them a trick. For more details on the events check out my Facebook MagicByRyan1 or email [email protected]

Thank you, Ryan, for thinking of Metamora Herald and good luck with your awesome business!
