Sunday, Reagan Begole became Metamora's first player to be named 1st Team All-Conference in the Mid-Illini during current head coach Brianna Morrow's tenure. Alivia West was named 2nd Team All-Conference, marking two years in a row that Metamora had a player on 2nd Team. In the 2016-17 season, it was Lady Redbird alum and current ICC player Abby Coates being named 2nd Team.
Begole and West lead a team that finished with it's best win total since the 2009-10 team that just missed a Sectional Championship, losing to Peoria Richwoods 58-57 in the title game. In 17-18, Metamora lost in the Regional Championship to arch-rival Washington, 55-48. This year's team will also return 1,042 of its 1,344 points scored throughout the course of 17-18's 28 games. That's 77.5%.
Coach Morrow is "very proud" of West and Begole, and had nothing but praise for the juniors.
"Alivia really improved this season and became a very dependable inside presence for us! Reagan was a go to kid for us this season. She led us in most categories and is very deserving of this honor."
Metamora's 2018-2019 season can start as early as October 29th, which is 239 days away from the Sunday on which Begole and West were honored.
