MGS Diversity Awareness Fair

MGS is excited to announce that we are hosting a “Diversity Awareness Fair” from January 29th- February 8th for Pre-K through 8th graders.

During this event, students will get to experience what it is like to live with specific disabilities as well as learn about other ways they are diverse from one another including race, culture, privilege, and traditions. Your students will rotate through ten different stations completing numerous activities including those related to physical impairment, visual impairment, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, learning disability, communication disability, Autism, culture, race/appearance and privilege.

This event will occur during the students’ PE times every other day including 1/29/18, 1/31/18, 2/2/18, 2/6/18 and 2/8/18. At the conclusion of the fair, your student will bring home a summary of the disabilities and differences they learned about to encourage further discussion at home.

This is a big all day event and we are seeking your help. We need assistance in running stations throughout the day. The event will go from 8:25 –2:50, breaking for lunch from 11:50 –12:25. We could use assistance all day or any time throughout the day that you may be available on 1/29, 1/31, 2/2, 2/6 and 2/8. We are thrilled to be hosting this event at our school and hope that you can join in on the fun! Thanks so very much for all of the parents that have signed up to help out during these events.

We especially need more help on  2/2/18 and 2/6/18.

Thanks for your support,
Mrs. Costello, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Hobson, and MGS PTO
