Net Neutrality is Important to You & Me

Net Neutrality is a necessary policy put in place in 2015. These federal regulations are how the FCC has been maintaining the Internet through providers to have them treat all online services the same no matter how big or small. Apparently, the providers aren't making enough money and need to charge more for services. They will also be allowed to speed up their products over other businesses. for instance, Verison owns Yahoo and can speed up the search engine and slow down Google drawing consumers to use the faster alternative.

This will also mean they can charge consumers for individualized packaging including streaming, web surfing, and apps. I personally spend a lot of time on the internet and I would not appreciate being charged an extra fee for using an app or checking my email. It will be left up to the Internet providers to decide. That is why Net Neutrality is so important. The companies involved are concerned with making money and they are trying to figure out a way to make more. I am pretty sure this is not why the internet was created.

Recently, I had to switch my Internet provider. My internet connection was so slow and I was paying for the "fastest" internet speed. Streaming was difficult at times and gaming was really challenging. Load times on web pages was nothing to write home about either. After being told the equipment I had at home was not working, replacing it and still had no internet connection for days the company admitted to having their own equipment issues. I had had enough. I made the switch that day and I am so glad I did. I am getting way more for my money and the speed is impeccable.

It is not too late, call Congress and Representatives and tell them we need Net Neutrality.
