Eureka College hosts Woodford County Democrats 3rd Founders Day Dinner

EUREKA — The Woodford County Democratic Party holds its 3rd annual Founder’s Day Dinner this Tuesday, September 19, at the Cerf Center at Eureka College.  This year’s featured speaker is former Democratic administration official Kirk Hanlin, who was Special Assistant to the President during the Clinton administration and Assistant Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service from 2013 to 2017 during the Obama administration.  Hanlin will speak to Eureka College students during the day then give the keynote speech at the dinner.

The dinner itself will start with a social at 6pm, buffet at 6:30, and speeches at 7pm.  Professor Junius Rodriguez, chair of the Woodford County Democratic Central Committee and candidate for Congress in the 18th Congressional District, welcomes gubernatorial candidate Bob Daiber of Madison County, state Sen. Dave Koehler speaking in support of candidate Sen. Daniel Biss, and other representatives of gubernatorial candidates.

Over 60 tickets have been sold, and several sponsors have donated their tickets back for free use by Democratic volunteers and high school and college students, many of whom have become active in politics since 2016.  Tickets are still available for $50 per person at the door, with larger sponsors getting a table as a $500 Wagonmaster or two tables as a $1000 Outfitter.

The Woodford County Democratic Central Committee (WCDCC) is the local Democratic Party, one of 99 county Democratic parties in Illinois.   Chosen by the citizens in every primary election, including in March 2018, it recruits, organizes, and assists candidates and volunteers who will put the average citizen's concerns above special interests that enrich the few at the expense of the many.   It also assists the electoral process by recruiting election judges and monitoring public elections.  The Woodford County Democrats’ guiding principle is: We all do better, when we all do better. https://www.wcdem.org/ has the party’s calendar and contact information.
