Special Obituary: Joanne L. Lockwood

 PEORIA – Joanne L. (Leman) Lockwood, 70, of Peoria, passed away Sat., Aug. 12, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Joanne was born June 11, 1947, in Washington, Ill., to David and Ann (Feller) Leman.
Surviving is her sister, Joyce (Wes) Hohulin of Goodfield; her nephew and nieces who were her “pride and joy”, Ed (Marilyn) Hohulin of Elwood, Ill., Jodi (Eric) Strassheim of Zionsville, Ind., and Keri (Josh) Beer of Newburgh, Ind.; and great nieces and nephews, Lena Hohulin, Tatton, Landon, Selah, Keira, and Cosette Strassheim, and Reilly, Grace, Sam, Katy, and Levi Beer. Also surviving are her step-siblings, Dale (Mary) Leman, Marge (Bob) Rumbold, Jerry (Kathy) Leman, and Susan (John) Stella, as well as many step nieces, nephews and step great nieces and nephews.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father.
Joanne stayed very busy throughout her life. She began working in 1967 at Rivinius in Eureka, Ill., She later worked at AO Smith Harvestore, also in Eureka, and Peoria Tractor/Capitol Machinery in East Peoria. Joanne worked 14 years at Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 2009 as a Parts Allocation Analyst. After retiring, she worked as a Courier at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Joanne was passionate about cooking and baking. While working full-time, she worked part-time at The Proper Pan at the Metro Centre in Peoria.
Joanne had attended the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church and was baptized as a member on Aug. 7, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wed., Aug. 16, 2017 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Peoria Apostolic Christian Church ministers officiating. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Tues., Aug. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., with an additional visitation held one hour prior to the service on Wed. Burial will be held at Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Rides, and to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
