Highlights from this weeks meeting of the Metamora Village Board:


  • The states site manager for the courthouse on the square asked for the board's permission to hold a small encampment and street dance September 16. More information to follow
  • Metamora Fields may host a fireworks display next July
  • Commerce Bank would like to bring in reindeer for this years Christmas on the Square
  • Negotiations are ongoing for the new well the village is working towards
  • The park board, village, and the Girl Scouts are working to bring water to Camp Tapawingo with many aspects still yet to consider
  • The Metamora Park District also inquired about the possibility of a crosswalk road sign on Coalbank Rd at the entrance of Black Partridge Park. With many sports teams training there it was agreed that something would be installed post haste.
  • A possible video gaming lounge may be coming to Metamora
  • The firehouse needs repairs to a thermal imaging camera. Chief Sluga recommended repair over replacement.
  • Trustee Vericker began a discussion on the village parking lot and vehicles for sale being left there. Further discussion was deferred to committee.
  • Trustee Hutchens shared a drawing of a possible public bathroom for the square on the property where the Legion Hall was. Further discussion to be held in committee.
