Metamora Village Board Meeting 7/5/2017

Metamora Village Board Meeting 7/5/2017, Metamora Herald

Some highlights from this week's meeting:

One resident wondered about the ordinance prohibiting commercial work on Sundays as well as the use of sidewalks. It was the board's consensus that no violations had occurred but assured the citizen that they would investigate further. Trustee Vericker thanked the citizen and reminded everyone that the board depends on citizens expressing concern to bring attention to these ordinance violations.
A vote was taken and passed on the purchase of a new backhoe for the village. The debate between a Caterpillar or John Deere machine was settled. While the price was comparable, the board's consensus was that the Cat backhoe was of higher quality and would last longer.
New seal coat surface enhancements for our streets was discussed at length, with a vote for an experimental usage delayed until next meeting.
One tablet is to be purchased to complete the outfitting of our police vehicles with modern technology. A citizen inquired into the high cost of the equipment. It was made clear that the price included a license for the necessary software as well.
There was also a vote that passed unanimously to donate $200 for the children of Illinois State Trooper Ryan Albin who was recently killed.
