Weather, You Like it or Not

metamora herald rain

The past weekend had so many varieties of weather occurrences all around the US. Floods, tornadoes, snow storms, rain storms, and a little heat wave. So much damage has happened to personal and public/private property, and unfortunately, it is not over. More rain is heading our way according to the National Weather Service:

Additional Heavy Rain & Renewed Flash Flood Threat for the Central U.S. Mid-Week

A new weather system will steadily intensify as it moves into the Central and Eastern U.S. mid to late this week. Heavy rainfall over portions of the High Plains and Mississippi River Valley will exacerbate ongoing flooding and may produce renewed flash flooding. In addition, severe thunderstorms may develop over the Deep South Wednesday with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

If you live by the Illinois River, be prepared to sandbag and clear your basements if you haven't already. Also, avoid driving at night during the heavy rainfall because it is more difficult to see flooded out roads/bridges. Remember to have an emergency safety kit ready at home and in the car. Be sure to pack food, water, candles, flashlights, and a battery operated radio in case of power outages.
