Earth Day 2017

Earth Day 2017, Metamora Herald
Earth Day is an amazing holiday created to promote awareness about pollution and the environment. It originally started as a grassroots movement that was passed and is also used to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, schools wanted to teach more about why protecting the Earth is so important after a massive oil spill. An impeccable amount of people gave support and soon over twenty million people rallied. Many people nowadays celebrate by planting trees or flowers, having marches, or picking up litter in the outdoors.

This year for Earth Day, many people will be participating in Science marches all around the U.S. There will be marches in every state and everyone can go to promote Science and our Earth. But you don't have to go to a march to celebrate Earth Day. Remember it's important that in some way or another everyone celebrates Earth Day, whether it be picking up litter of going to a march!
