Local Entrepreneur Features: Jenna Scifres

Metamora Herald bracelet birthstones

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jenna Scifres the other day. She is one of the nicest people I have spoken with in my life. So down to earth and intelligent, and running her own business from home like a boss! Jenna Scifres Handmade Jewelry, and she designs and makes her jewelry from home. Up until recently, Jenna made every piece of jewelry by herself, but business is starting to take off so she has hired an intern Kate. Her parents also help out with packaging and distribution, and even her boyfriend Rob is starting to get creative. “ I never planned on making a profit, it was a happy accident,” Jenna told me.

Jenna has been crafting and making jewelry her whole life. She spent a lot of time with her grandmother and she had her own at home business as well. It was a monogramming business, and folks were always coming by dropping off and picking up their orders. At a young age, Jenna learned that a woman could have their own business. Both her parents were very creative and have their own businesses as well. She tells me her grandmother would give her little projects to do to keep her busy while she was working. Her first jewelry design was little wire triangles.

She continued making jewelry for family and friends while growing up. She was working doing marketing and decided to go for it and try and sell her jewelry. “ Freedom to be your own boss and independently making profit and loving what you do.” Jenna realized this after starting her online business. At first, things were slow, but after five year's, Jenna is starting to reap the benefits of all her hard work. All of her jewelry is handmade and you can have it custom designed. She has many unique designs of her own and uses personalized touches such as, birthstones and engraving.

Place your order on her website and get your purchase to you within 3 to 5 business days. She also sells some pieces at the Shabby Shac in Morton. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and jewelry is always a nice gift. Just a suggestion.
