Metamora Boys Varsity Basketball team vs. East Peoria Saturday January 21st, 2017

It was Saturday, January 21st, 2017 and I was going to Metamora Township High School to listen to my daughter sing the National Anthem for the boys varsity basketball game. It was pretty crowded on either side of the gym and maneuvering through the crowd was challenging, but we finally made it to our seats on the home team’s side. Little did I know we were playing East Peoria Community High School. I became so excited because E.P.C.H.S. is where I graduated!

The players were practicing, the band was playing, and cheerleaders and school dancers were in full swing. So much fun was being had by the audience, watching the kids do their thing. It was so sweet to hear the squeaking of the shoes on the gymnasium floor as the boys tossed the ball around and shot baskets. The band played the school song, the cheerleaders and dancers did a routine. My daughter sang her song and then it was the tip off.

Right away I could tell this game was going to be a good one. So much back and forth, stealing the ball, and basket after basket. Metamora started off so well in the 1st quarter, but it didn’t take long for E.P. to catch up and pass them (Sorry guys) by halftime. The game was so exciting. You never knew what was coming next. In the end E.P. won with a final score of 59 to 49.  Both teams did a great job! And all the students band, dance, cheer, and players deserve a big round of applause.

I just want to say thank you to all students, faculty, and parents who made this and so many other events possible. Couldn’t do it without you guys!
