GFWC Art/Writing Contest

Metamora Herald writing art

The Metamora Women’s Club is sponsoring an Art/Writing Contest through GFWC Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs. This is an excellent chance to win awesome prizes by doing something you love, art. An example, one year the prize was a scholarship to a summer art camp at Eastern Illinois University, a very prestigious award in my opinion. This year the prizes will be determined by the number of entries.

If you are interested in joining time is almost up, (sorry I just found out about the contest) January 27th, 2017 is the cutoff date. Yes, this Friday! So hurry and enter your art. You can use pencil, pen, collage, mixed media, or pastels. All work submitted must be original.  All entries must have a card on the top right-hand corner on the back with the information including the student’s name, email, phone number, and what school they attend and "district 17".  As well as, the name of the chairman  Arlene Rush, P O Box 202, Metamora IL 61548.

There are three divisions: Category 1- Grades 4,5,6 Category 2- Grades 7,8,9 and Category 3- Grades 10,11, and 12. The winning entries will be sent by the sponsoring clubs to the district art chairman. The district art chairman will then send the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winning entries to the state art chairman. The entries sent to the state will be displayed at the State Convention in May and picked up by a member and returned to the artist. For all entries going to district , a completed and signed GFWC Arts Waiver must be submitted with each entry. Contact Arlene Rush for any further questions or information. Good luck artists!
