Germantown Hills Library Grand Opening Celebration

Germantown Hills Library Grand Opening Celebration

The new library in Germantown Hills held its grand opening celebration today. It is a beautiful facility with many modern features. The design of the building is very open with nice high ceilings and plenty of windows letting in the natural light. According to District Director Grant Fredericksen, Senior Interior Designer Amanda Voorhees was the first call they made. Dewberry and Bishop Bros Inc did a wonderful job with this building and I am sure it will serve the community well for many years to come.

Board Secretary Genna Buhr spoke with me about the children's area. It includes tack board on the walls so kids art can easily be put up. The computers are also equipped with cute, kid-friendly headphones with volume control built in so they don't damage those precious little ear drums.

It was a really fun day at the library. The balloons by Nathaniel from the Unique Twist were a big hit. There were two local authors signing books, and a caricature artist as well. The library district is also having an adult winter reading program called "Cabin Fever Reliever". The program started January 9 and is for adults 18 and over. If you read 4 books that you check out from one of the district library locations you are eligible to enter to win a $75 Visa gift card. To find out more visit your local branch.
