Eli's Coffee Shop Coming to Metamora

Metamora Herald, elis coffee coming to square

Rachel and Weston Berchtold, the owners of Eli’s Coffee(the coffee with heart), have purchased a new site for their business.  Yes, a new Eli’s Coffee will be opening in the spring, on the Metamora Square in the former Historic Grounds building. This will be their third location, and I for one am very excited they chose to set up shop here in our town. Eli’s Coffee began in Morton, IL when a young woman (Katie Vandenberg) bought an abandoned home, renovated and transformed it into a coffee shop/bakery. (How cool is that, a house that is now a coffee shop.) Through dedication and hard work a booming business was born and within a few year's needed to expand to another location to keep up with an extended menu and catering. Purchasing the Tremont location was their next step.

After some time, Katie decided to step back and that is when the then manager Rachel became the now owner of Eli’s Coffee. Rachel and her husband Weston still hold true to Eli’s original mission statement. Which is basically, to connect with the community through delicious, fresh food and beverages they serve.  There is a homey feeling you have when you hang out at Eli’s Coffee. I love that they care about having a sense of the history of the buildings they choose and honoring that history by updating and not tearing down. According to Weston " The three pillars of our business: Connection, Community, and Heritage. We see that Metamora is an active and vibrant community, we take community very seriously and love supporting that community that we're a part of. We are passionate about preserving the local heritage of the town we're in."

Eli’s offers a unique menu that will satisfy any thirst or hunger. Varieties of coffees and flavored beverages, and a new daily blend coffee every day. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items, as well as, delightful homemade pastry treats and baked goods. Eli’s also offers on their menu seasonal and gluten free items, and vegetarian dishes. Weston says " Our hours will be the same as other stores, Sunday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday- Thursday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m". For those interested, they have space available for renting out and catering as well.

Go to eliscoffee.com for the calendar of daily blends and also the donation programs created by Eli’s. There are different donation days, and also a Donation Creation program, and both programs give a percentage of profits to local charities. " Local organizations and nonprofits can apply to each program on Eli’s website" Weston stated to me. Please go to their website to find out who they are donating to this month and help out.
I can not wait for Eli's to open, and maybe part of the reason is I can walk there from my home. Fresh baked goods and yummy coffee sound great to me. I will keep you up to date on the opening. Come on spring!
