Election Day!

Today is the day to cast your vote for the candidates running for public office, as well as other measures on the ballot. Many people feel glad this election season is coming to a conclusion. There has been a lot of negativity from the Presidential race alone. Sadly this election has encouraged many people to vote, not for a candidate or their platform, but against the other candidate.
I do not believe the founders of this country would approve of the current situation of our elected officials. The two party system is no longer serving the people of this nation. We all need to take responsibility for the situation we find ourselves in.
Yes, vote. Make your voice heard and participate in other ways as well. You could be an election judge or run for local office. Volunteer with nonprofit organizations you care about and help be the change you want to see.
Be an active participant in our great democracy. We have a "government of the people, by the people, for the people", as President Abe Lincoln said. Take your seat at the table. There is no one to blame for our problems but us.
Whatever you do today, be sure to vote. Let it be the first step in the many more to come that will help your fellow citizens. It took a long time and a lot of struggle to form this nation. With all of our help, we can continue to make this the country great.
